I met a man who wasn't there, I wish he would go away

Dating back to 2011, I was a kid with somewhat a so called boring life. Never really had an actual thought that can processing within and the life I had lived is nothing more than studying and hanging out with my friends. I’m not a big fan of everything including music as I’m not good at singing at all and that’s even something I’d be ashamed of. There’s a day that I was randomly checking the music online and run into Eminem, all of a sudden I thought his music is astonishingly appealing. From that day on, I’m officially be in love with the Hip-Hop culture.

Not long after that occasion, I start digging, which means that I would love to spend a great amount of money to buy the music that I like. It was pure back then. However, things are not always on the right track since I found out the culture of digging was somehow twisted and pathetically I was part of it. The music is not important anymore and it seems that we are paying extra more attention on the price tag. The “music” became something equals “luxury”, at some point, so that people would be chasing it because that’s how music monetization works. But can we tag a price on everything especially something on the cultural level?

I’ve heard a lot music lover be claiming that music for life and I respect that, even the world famous Tower Records had the slogan “No Music No Life”. My life cannot be without music but also cannot be all about music, it’s in a more balance way. When I’m talking about Hip-Hop, I prefer talking about the culture movement and depth meaning behind. You don’t necessarily have to be black to create a conversation about black culture and there’s nothing to be ashamed of.

It’s funny how the environment have been slightly changed and the true value have been stuck. That’s probably how the world runs in some way, I had no problem with that cause it’s also the obligation the music have to entertain people. It’s all about entertainment now but also I have been wishing to start conversations with whoever loves the music and state something out.

I truly love Hip-Hop, but Hip-Hop is not my life.
